On making stenographs

WHAT THE STENOGRAPHS ARE ABOUT:  For each prototyping session, you will engage in a discussion of the social system that you're exploring.  Yall will talk about the 3 (or more) ideas that each of you visualized, ask and answer questions to gain further understanding, make notes or comments about the process, and invent "codes" (or ways to represent aspects of real life with aspects of the game life).

HOW MANY STENOGRAPHERS PER SESSION:  For each session, one person will be assigned by the group or will volunteer to take notes on the discussion.  These notes should be short and sweet--length will vary depending on the content.

HOW TO MAKE A STENOGRAPH:
  1. IN THE TOP MARGIN:  Write 1) the name and initials of each present member, 2) the name of the group, 3) the date.
  2. IN THE LEFT MARGIN:  Write the initials of the person who spoke the idea, code, question, or answer.
  3. IN THE MAIN BODY:  Write 1) the symbol indicating whether the contribution is a question, answer, idea, or code, 2) the question, answer, idea, or code itself.
  4. MAKE A COMMENTS/NOTES SECTION:  Draw a line across the top of the 5th line from the bottom of the page.
  5. IN THE COMMENTS/NOTES SECTION:  Write any comments or notes about the process, both those of the student members and of the teacher. If a member is absent, but they submit their visual notes (e.g., through email), then write "Absent Submission by [1st Name + Last Name]".
WHAT ARE THE SYMBOLS:
  1. C. = code for how to represent real life events or circumstances in the game
  2. I. = ideas or info about the social system at hand, which are derived from readings
  3. Q. = questions that are not immediately answerable--these require 1st a consultation of google, and if google can't help, then consult the teacher
  4. A. = answers to questions that are not immediately answerable
GRADING/POINT VALUE EXPECTATIONS:  For each session, each person is expected to contribute 2 to 4 ideas and/or codes.  A minimum of 2 ideas must be contributed in order to get full credit.  Also, each group is expected to generate and collectively decide on 1 to 3 codes for each session.  Whenever you decide on these codes, underline them.
